  • Sushi Nanaimo

Of course, my first two "welcome back" blogposts will be about sushi - I have a sushi addiction problem.

Sushi Nanaimo was pleasantly surprising. Be expected to be greeted in Japanese when you walk into the restaurant, and hollered "Sayonara" when you leave.
JW and I visited here to celebrate his end-of-term and beginning of a one-week long summer break for him.
Before I begin my review, I just have to say - I think I have found my new favourite sushi restaurant! It's fairly priced and they definitely don't skimp out on the food quality either.

Agedashi Tofu - Crispy, salty, soft on the inside. The trick is to serve it while it's still hot. I'm quite impressed that the tofu was breaded and deep fried so evenly. One of the best agedashi tofus I have tasted.

Sushi Pizza - What exactly is sushi pizza? The bottom layer is deep fried rice, topped with avocado, spicy tuna, green onion, mayo, teriyaki sauce, and roe. I don't even have words to describe this dish... I would probably re-name this dish as "everything you can possibly want in life"

Dragon Roll - Avocado and Unagi topped with teri-mayo! I couldn't get a good shot of this roll because JW was too anxious to eat. A little salty for my taste, but it was good.

Unagi Roll and Yam Tempura Roll - nothing fancy, but the quality is good. On a side note, I love the fact that they use white ginger instead of the pink ones.

We ordered Sashimi as well, but quite upset that I didn't get a good picture of it (I blame JW again for his impatience!). The sashimi was fresh and in thick slices, just the way I like it.

Sushi Nanaimo is a gem! I like this place so much, it almost makes me not want to post this blog up and share my discovery. I want to keep this a secret all to myself so there will never be a line up when I want to visit - which is just about every other day now! Shhh, we'll keep this our little secret.
